Glaciers as Frozen Waterfalls :)

Better late than never!

To my point re glaciers as frozen waterfalls, you can see the waterfalls off to the sides in these photos. We experienced up close and personal amazement with at many glaciers on our Alaska trip–Mendenhall likely being the most famous. But I’ll just count 3. After all, I didn’t actually immerse in them.

And the falls at Mendenhall Lake–Nugget Falls One of the most interesting natural features near Juneau, this spectacular waterfall plunges about 377 feet down the rugged mountainside into Mendenhall Lake about three-quarter miles south of the active face of Mendenhall Glacier. Powered by meltwater runoff from hanging Nugget Glacier, the cataract makes its descent in two tiers—99 feet and 278 feet—before gushing into the chilly, aquamarine water.

So I started this post with 23, plus 3 (at least) big glaciers and a waterfall = 27. 80 – 27 = 53
